To His Lady Rescue A Damsels in Breeches Regency Novella (Audible Audio Edition) Anne Marie Novark Pearl Hewitt Books

this is a very short novella, and it should not have been. It is not light and airy and about friends falling in love, the h is downright abused and the H while honorable doesnt really do a good job of protecting her. This should have been novel length to make you feel good about bella and gilberts story impo.

To His Lady Rescue A Damsels in Breeches Regency Novella (Audible Audio Edition) Anne Marie Novark Pearl Hewitt Books Reviews

This is a brief and nonsensical book, and its only saving grace is that its blissfully short, which means you don't have to endure such drivel for very long.

First of all, the plot is completely illogical. The way the characters acts is deeply unbelievable, as is the stilted, awkward dialogue that runs rampant through this book. The little 'twists' the author puts in as an effort to make the book even vaguely interesting are either completely mundane and predictable or else so unbelievable as to make you sit up and say "did she REALLY just write that?"

There is nothing original or interesting here, save for maybe looking at it just to see how much of a blunder this entire novel is. I don't know the author's experience as a writer, but, like another reviewer noted, they must be just starting out - because there is nothing in this book to indicate anything even remotely resembling control of the written language.

The emotional conflicts that he characters face (especially Gilbert) are contrived and unbelievable. The emotions that come about seem to arise almost completely from thin air, in a poorly-veiled attempt to add credibility to the story. It just doesn't work. Bella (probably named for the heroine from Twilight, but at least that book has had an editor work through it) is also so clueless through the entire book that it makes you scratch your head wondering how somebody so dim-witted could have possibly survived in her world.

All in all, a terrible read. You can tell I'm very opinionated about it from my review, but that's because I have absolutely no idea how this book got published. Poor, poor outing for the author, and reading this book is a terrible way to spend any amount of your time.
I just finished reading this novella 5 minutes ago, and now I'm all warm and fuzzy inside. Such a sweet, romantic story of childhood friends falling in love! I'm not usually one to re-read books, but this one is so fun, lively and short that I'm definitely going to save it for a rainy day. Highly recommended!
The book started out really good. I got excited to see straight from the open Bella trying to sneak into Gilbert's (her childhood friend) room to ask for his help. She is being forced to marry her nasty cousin who only wants her money and Gilbert need money to save his ancestral home so they decide to help each other by marrying one another.
(Possible Spoilers) But then Gilbert leaves for business and Bella with hardly any protection leaves his home and didnt think that her family wouldnt find her? This is where it became unbelievable for me. A rational thinking person who knows that her family is after her and knows that she will be force to do things she does not want to do, will leave the protection of her hideout? There is no way! I just couldnt enjoy the story after this. And I really couldnt root for the hero to get to her on time as she deserved to be force to marry her cousin for being stupid!
A really upsetting short story that had potential but failed to be believable and was just overall silly! No depth and no real development just simply disappointing.
Wow! I read reviews where so many people hated this little novella, while I thought it was pretty good. Amazing how different people's perspectives can be. Anyhow, the story is by no means an earth-shattering read, and it definitely would have benefitted from being a bit longer. Moreover, the characters could have done with some more developing--but that is often the case with novellas. Nevertheless, what's there is thoroughly entertaining, and kept me engaged from start to finish.

The story starts out like gangbusters, with Bella climbing through Gabe's window. When she tries to awaken him, she finds herself sprawled out on his bed with him on top of her, being thoroughly kissed. LOL Of course Gabe is appalled when he fully awakens to find that the tasty bit o'muslin in his bed is NOT! Bella and Gabe are neighbors and have known each other since childhood. They haven't seen each of for a few years, ever since Gabe left to fight in the Napoleonic war.

Bella is in desperate need of help. Her despicable relatives, who are her guardians, are trying to force her to marry their equally despicable son--Bella's cousin--so that they can gain permanent control of her inheritance. Gabe needs money. His estates are badly in need of repairs. When Bella discovers that Gabe has returned home, she approaches him with a bargain--hence the middle of the night visit to his bedchamber. LOL Bella's bargain--they get married; she is saved from marrying her despicable cousin, Gabe gets Bella's money. Bella has to apply herself to the task of convincing Gabe of the soundness of her plan, but once he agrees they set their plans in motion.

Of course, before they can get away, Bella has a TSTL moment which results in her escape getting foiled. The rest of the story pretty much consists of Gabe chasing after Bella, trying to catch her before she is forced before a preacher. Nothing earth-shattering, but more than passably entertaining. Happy reading!
This story is very short, very cheesy, and predictable! Not worth the money!! The storyline has potential if it were longer and if the main characters had time to build a relationship instead of suddenly falling in love with each other from a few minutes of talking and seeing each other after many years of being apart. She fixes his problem he fixes hers .......blah blah blah..... The writing is not very good and the slang is not time appropriate. Very disappointing!
Very cute story. Nasty relatives taking advantage of wealthy orphin not a new story but put together really cute. Worth the money...Enjoy
this is a must it you like books and your looking for a hero in your life read this one I thank you will like it
